Cyndi Lauper was joined by a host of icons, including Cher and Joni Mitchell, at her farewell show in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl.
Lauper has been enjoying the final leg of her victory lap in North America this summer, concluding with two huge shows at the Hollywood Bowl on August 29th and August 30th.

The first guest of the night was Trombone Shorty, who joined Lauper to deliver a cover of ‘Iko Iko’ by Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters. Then, later on, Mitchell made a rare public appearance to perform her classic track, ‘Carey’, with Lauper, who had previously covered it 14 times in concert.
For the following song, John Legend appeared on stage to duet on ‘Time After Time’. The surprises then kept on coming as her support act, Jake Wesley Rogers, returned to the stage for ‘Money Changes Everything’.
Lauper then delivered a triumphant encore that began with ‘Shine’, she then welcomed SZA for a rendition of ‘True Colors’ before bringing the night to a close with ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ along with Cher.
The singer previously opened up about her decision to retire from touring while on Jimmy Kimmel Live, explaining to the host that she is done with “the trains, planes and automobiles” and shared, “I want to do an arena tour… I’m strong now, but I don’t know what I’m going to be like in four years.”
Lauper continued: “For me, I wanted to have a chance to do this when I’m feeling strong. I want to celebrate with people. Really celebrate with people, and make it fun.”
While Lauper is stepping away from the road, this doesn’t mean she’ll never be stepping on stage again. However, her days of long tours have come to an end on her terms with a triumphant send-off in Los Angeles.
