Toni Gonzaga, Sen. Risa Hontiveros Probed on Presidential Run in 2028 Elections
In a recent episode of Toni Gonzaga’s talk show vlog “ToniTalks” that aired on Sunday, March 16, Toni asked the country’s senator, Risa Hontiveros, for her reaction to the rumors that she could run for president in the upcoming elections.
In the said vlog celebrating Women’s Month this March, Senator Risa Hontiveros’ life as a single mom, her entry into politics, and her advocacy as a legislator promoting women’s rights were featured.
In one part of the video, Toni showed her interest in the spreading statements from the senator’s supporters that she could run for president of the country in the future. Toni asked Sen. Hontiveros on the statements of some people that she could possibly be one of the candidates in the next presidential elections, besides former Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Aside from (former) VP Leni, on your slate, a lot of people are saying that in the next presidential election, you could be the candidate. I’m sure you’ve heard that. What is your reaction on that?” Toni asked Senator Hontiveros.
Senator Risa responded modestly: “If there is a role that suits me and the timing is right, as many times before, I will audition.”
Sen. Hontiveros showed her openness to the possibility, but she clarified that the decision to run for office depends on the right opportunities and those that are truly in line with her mission and advocacy.
While discussing this issue, Toni Gonzaga also paid tribute to Senator Risa for her continued struggle and fight for what she believes is right for the country, especially on issues related to women’s rights and other social causes. Toni expressed her high appreciation for the senator as a leader who promotes just and equitable policies for Filipinos, especially the neglected and those not reached by welfare programs.
Their conversation demonstrated the open communication and deep respect they have for each other. Although Sen. Hontiveros did not directly accept the issue of running for president, he clearly demonstrated his dedication to public service and his desire to continue helping people in ways that he can rightfully reciprocate. No matter what, Sen. Hontiveros has shown that he is committed to service and not just in politics, but in empowering everyone in society.
This conversation on “ToniTalks” not only provided an opportunity to get to know the senator better on her views on politics and family life, but also gave viewers the opportunity to better understand her advocacy and mission for a better future for the country. Ultimately, her response to the issue of running for president reinforced her open-mindedness to possibilities but her commitment to the mission of public service.
