Lauren Alaina & Husband Cam Arnold Welcome Baby Girl and Share Emotional Birth Story
On June 11, Lauren Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first child—a beautiful daughter named Beni Doll Arnold.
In her heartfelt birth announcement, Lauren wrote, “The right words are hard to find to describe how parts of my heart that I didn’t even know existed were unlocked at 8:44 am when they laid you on my belly for the first time. I will never be the same. You, to your dad and me, are absolute perfection. We are honored God chose us to be your parents. Thank you to everyone for all of the love, prayers and support for our precious daughter.”
The couple later shared the special meaning behind Beni’s unique name. Her first name honors Lauren’s grandfather, Benny, who helped raise her and bought her first karaoke machine. Unsure of the spelling, they discovered “Beni” with an “i” means “crimson” in Japanese. For Lauren, whose late father was a devoted Alabama fan, the meaning felt like a sign from him—his way of saying “roll tide” from above.
Beni’s middle name, “Doll,” pays tribute to Cam’s aunt, Lucy Doll Arnold, who never had children. Naming their daughter after her ensures that her legacy lives on.
A Scary Delivery
In a recent interview, Lauren revealed that Beni’s birth didn’t go as planned. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck, under her shoulder, and between her legs, causing her heart rate to drop with every push.
“It became an emergency scenario where we had to get her out quickly,” Lauren recalled through tears. “It was very scary. When they handed her to me… when she made that first little sound, I looked at my husband and he was hysterically sobbing.”
Loss, Healing, and a Song for Her Father
Just weeks before learning she was pregnant, Lauren lost her father, J.J. Suddeth, unexpectedly. They had been extremely close, making his passing deeply painful.
“Many people have told me they think my dad sent the baby, and I believe that,” she shared. “I needed her. There was a gaping wound in my heart, and she helped heal it. She will never know what a gift she’s been for us.”
On August 8, Lauren released Little Things—a song dedicated to her father. It’s a tender reflection on love, loss, and focusing on what truly matters in life. As Lauren described, it’s for anyone learning to let go of the noise and hold tight to the moments that count most.
