Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks Anew on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Impeachment Process

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Chief Executive maintained his stand that the impeachment process of Vice President Sara Duterte is up to the legislative branch.

The soured relationship between Marcos Jr. and Duterte is no secret to the Filipino people. The Vice President has thrown tirades against the Chief Executive since she left the Marcos Cabinet.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that her decision to leave Marcos cabinet includes both work and personal reasons. She also claimed that she and the President did not really start as friends and they only talked about the campaign and work.

In the ongoing impeachment process of the Vice President, her camp believes that the Marcos administration wants her removed from office despite Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ repeated claims that he is against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment. He previously stressed that it will only tie up the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also previously claimed that he is open to reconciling with the Duterte family. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte did not react to it. Known Duterte ally Senator Bato dela Rosa claimed that the President should deport the alleged “investigators” of the International Criminal Court if he is really sincere with his remarks.

Marcos Jr. said reconciliation should not come with conditions. Malacañang also stressed that the President will not bend the rules for the sake of reconciliation. Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro also claimed that the “reconciliation” remarks of the Chief Executive is not solely for the Duterte family.

Recently, in his latest podcast, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked to comment on the alleged delay in the impeachment process of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He stressed that all impeachment processes are in the hands of the legislative branch.

“Lahat ng impeachment process nasa lehislatura ‘yan. It’s between the Congress (House of Representatives) and the Senate,” he said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that he has no role in the impeachment process of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to him, he is busy with the work in the government.

“I’m busy with the transport, with the rice, all of the different things we are doing. Nauubos ang oras ko doon. Wala naman akong papel sa impeachment,” Marcos said.

The Chief Executive was also asked to comment on the President having a say on the decision of the Senate impeachment court. He affirmed that the President may have a say but stressed that he chooses not to.

“If a president chooses to do that, I choose not to,” he expressed.
